Clarkstown, NY -
Jersey City Eagles FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) announced today a strategic agreement with Clarkstown Soccer Club of Clarkstown, NY. Under the terms of the agreement, JC Eagles FC will relocate and play their home games out of Clarkstown High School South. The team will be re-branded as Clarkstown SC Eagles (Eagles). As part of the agreement, the Eagles will provide regular coaching and soccer clinics to the boys and girls that comprise Clarkstown Soccer Club.
Clarkstown Soccer Club offers both recreational and competitive soccer opportunities to approximately 2500 boys and girls living in Rockland County, NY. Having recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, Clarkstown Soccer Club has a rich and diverse history of providing soccer education and training to boys and girls of all ages, with teams competing in the Northern Counties Soccer Association and The Regional Premier League (RPL). Clarkstown Soccer Club President John Moran stated, "Clarkstown Soccer Club has a rich history of player support and development over the past 50 years. The club is very excited about this agreement, which gives our community a team to support and a level of play to aspire to. This union also gives Clarkstown kids access to top level coaches and players who will help to grow and develop existing programs.”
Behind the coaching of former Manchester United player, Kevin Grogan, the Eagles finished their inaugural season in 3rd place in the Keystone Conference of the NPSL with a 6-3-2 record. "We were delighted with our development in our first season and we saw the opportunity to build upon that success. One of the biggest things we can now offer our players and our fellow competition in the conference are fans in the seats for every home game and an improved atmosphere in which to play. Our partnership with Clarkstown has immense potential to deliver that. We’re extremely excited to be working with John, the Clarkstown SC Board as well as with all of the great kids and their parents,” said head coach, Kevin Grogan
The NPSL is a semi-professional developmental league which sits in the 4th division of the US Soccer Pyramid. With over 60 teams across the United States, the league provides top playing opportunities to young, up-and-coming players.
